Through reading this thread I thought to myself that the general behaviour of the playing population has improved. Then I realised I have used heroes and henchmen for almost everything for the past year and have had hardly any player-to-player contact.

I have too many tales to list but the arrogant monks and warriors with black FoW really piss me off. It's like 'look at what I'm wearing and wielding. I'm superior, you're inferior so stfu."

Also, I was in a FoW pug with some hardcore HA-ers who brought dual smite to FoW. Smite vs Skeletons is great but Balthazar's Aura and Zealot's Fire means major scattering and messy results. I protested politely then for a whole load of abuse for it.

The moral of the story is: there are too many bad eggs out there. Stick on the safe side and use heroes.

They should sell Ritalin in the online store.

I guess in Fort Aspenwood. Some players there are parasiting on the team by joining the game while afk (Using macro/bot) and not contributing to the mission in any way. (Just standing there) Too bad that these leechers are still there.

If I can't find any decent players; I'd rather play a one-player game.

Blah another "PuGs are bad" thread. Yes, some are, but in 8 cases out of 10, pugs listen to advise, are willing to change their builds and not worse than a henchman.

So just to spite all the flamers here I will not go into the 2/10 of bad cases, but nominate myself:

A long time ago I wanted to find out whether Unyielding aura is really as horrible as it sounds (yes it is!). So I hop on my monk, ready a half decent prot bar + unyielding go off to ring of fire. Cue UA on first death, loads of verbal abuse directly following (instead of fighting). Being a good bit pissed off, I refused to take UA off after the fight. After 5 minutes the warrior in question was fuming and close to ragequitting, so I finally dropped the enchant. Of course we did make it all the way through without much trouble afterwards, but I guess there are 7 people out there telling stories about horrible monk bars they meet in late prophecies missions =P

What is this monk bashing? Let us tell you how we see things with this horrible experience I had monking...

Doing Gyala Hatchery late at night, after having some great HA runs with my guild. I'm the only monk in this pug, but I tell every1 to bring a self heal and I figure if we play smart we'll be fine. From the very start things start getting frustrating. I type furiously to get my team to take the back entrance and thus prevent the turtles from moving foward and most certainly dying. After a few minutes of arguing over that, we finally start taking the back path. The warriors (there were a few of them) go off and start to agro several groups. I draw lines on the compass and tell them to pull back, as I cannot heal throw 3-4 mobs kurzicks. I attempt to powerheal through it but to no avail, overextended warriors and elementalists who don't understand the concept of kiting. And then:
"heal monk!"
I hate people.

The wammo then tries to give me a lesson on how to heal, as he had brough orison of healing... "like this!" he said, "see how this ranger isnt dying?" Well the ranger was using troll ungeunt and those two people had retreated after most of our party wiped and were killing 2 enemy rangers. 2 rangers, and those two players die without trying to res the party until they themselves were almost dead.

ome times the monk bashing is justified...

I was doing RoF awhile ago on my monk, and there were 2 other monks in the party. one of the monks got a good weapon and one of the players asked if they could have it. So the monk starts screaming about how the person is trying to scam her. now understand all the person did was ask for it once, and wasnt trying to use any sort of sneaky scheme, he asked once and that was it.

the 2 monks I’m guessing were together ( though neither of them even had a guild, big suprise considering their social skills) the monk that was yelling asks me to back her up cause monks need to stick together. I simply said I didn’t want to get into an argument, so both monks said I was a backstabber and that I was also a P***y when they found out I did not join the monk strike at Thead, then they proceeded to try and make me look bad, which sort of worked, one of the wammos fell for it.

On top of that, I was pretty much the only one healing, and the other 2 monks kept dieing.

WHERE DO THESE PEOPLE COME FROM!!!

This wasn't intended to be a PuGs suck thread. But, we all know, most of them do. 8 in 10 groups are good...? uhh, what game is he playing?! not Guild Wars, thats for sure! But, I could say, 8 out of 10 groups are good, if I only count the ones that don't get wiped in under 5 minutes.

Well, there was once, last year, I was in Ascalon doing a storage clean out. I had a bunch of junk that I didn't want and I HATE selling stuff so I was selling it dirt cheep figuring the low lvls would get some decent stuff at FAIR prices. But, of course, someone bought an item from me for 5K then started spamming in local how much of a "stupid noob" I was for selling him an item for 5K that was worth 15-20K. I told him I intentionally charged a low price and he continued to bash and insult. Hence the last time I sold an item for that low. most of the time now, I auction it, use it, give it away to a low lvl, or merch it.

Jr. High or Middle School or what ever the hell its called these days......

If I had a nickel for every time I was stuck in a bad pug, I would have a crap load of nickels.

The one that comes time mind was when I getting the Protector Title for my Dervish. So I joined a pug to do the Wilds Mission. We had another Dervish on the team who decided it was a good idea to agro everything that moved on the mini map then run back to the group....so he went down in a blaze of scythe master glory...the proceeded to bash everyone else for not doing enough damage to the 30+ (thats an exaggeration) group scarabs, Centaurs, Wind Riders and what ever else he could round up. Also keep in mind that with the exception of me and him everyone else in the group was at around Level 15.

So after we killed off the group and rez'ed him, we kept moving along and he kept dying then he then he went after me for not knowing how to use a Dervish. And not using enough attack skills. To which I politely responded to by asking how much DP he had. he told me 30%, I said funny I have +4% Moral Boost. He responded my calling me F***ING n00b that my build sucked and rage quiting.

The group then proceeded to Finish the mission and bonus with no one else dying. Me and a level 14 Warrior taking the brunt of the agro and keeping the back line safe.

aaaahhhh good times.....good times.

Just one really annoying incident for me, I can look over most other ones.

We were doing the Aurora Glades mission and going for the bonus. Most of us agreed that before starting that last part, we should come up with a plan. One guy, a sin, decides to call us noobs/idiots/etc. and just start it. So we do. It's going pretty fine in the beginning, and then next thing you know, the sin dies. I click on his name on the party window to figure out where he is (I was a monk) and find out that he had aggroed ALL the mantle. He then proceeds to call me (was the only monk) a bad healer. We manage to pull through, and we res him in time to kill the demagogue. One of our guys holding the crystal for the last portal lost connection for some time, and the aforementioned sin decides to take the Mantle's attunement crystal and just stand there. We kept telling him to attune the last one, and he kept going "you're all noobs, you don't deserve it." Fortunately, the guy restored connection and we got to finish up the mission. Somehow though, he managed to get himself killed at the last part, and we all decided not to res.

Here's two tales of monks just to show the whole variety of them.

THE BAD

A few months back I decided to make a monk - I thought they'd be a new challenge compared to my other chars - I loved it I love the plate spinning - on no you don't kill the damn warrior - Healing Seed Hiyaaa! aspect. I completed cantha with him without a overly bad pug (tho I was called a levelist for saying a lvl 14 Assassin @ Arborstone was a bad idea ) Anyway so I next headed to Tyria...

Were in the crystal desert - the mission with the crystals - and we've got one away from a full party (just me as monk so far) anyway I was just going to put Olias on when another monk said she wanted to join. I said great.

"Me:"Can I see your build?" (should I go prot or heal?)
Mo/R 17: "No I sell my build - Im pro"
Me: Er okay....are you prot or heal
Mo/R 17: Just go
Me: Er you know I'll see your skills in a bit right?
Mo/R 17: *Radio Silence*

Well the leader of the party just started when she didnt answer. So were going through the mission and I'm wondering why this is a lot harder than usual... And I see that the other monk is actually just following behind just firing at enemies with her staff - I watch her for ages and she dosn't use a single healing spell. The tanks starting to take a complete beating as so are the rest and Im low on energy so I ask her can you heal him please. She completly and utterly flips - she starts calling me words which make me wince when I hear them along with the usual PR*CK M-F**KER. " YOU ******** ***** HEAL THEM B*TCH!" And the rest of the team is also asking the other monk "yeah could you please heal us as well now."

Then a terrible suspicion dawns on me..... "Sorry are you not using skills as you don't want to reveal your build?!?!!?" This Monk has now reached to calling everyone F*CKING COPYCAT BUILDSTEALERS and quits. Happy ending : we actually finished the mission with bonus

THE GOOD

Sigh the Paragon needed a good spear and my Monk was the closest to getting a Book of Secrets - All I'd have to do was the Gates of Madness Mission Yeah everyones fave. So not a huge amount of groups so I put it into party search. Instantly get invited into a team - yay. However it seems the entire rest of the team is German and I don't speak a word of it (except "Where is the Ski lift my Good Friend" and I couldn't recall any ski lifts in this particular mission so didn't think this would help) The only other english speaker was the other Monk who kindly offerd to translate. This group was my gods the most fantastic I have ever been in and this includes my guild. When someone thought he knew an easier way to tackle a solution we'd all stop and discuss it (ja wirklich? - oh really - yes really ) We actually took down Shiro first and without a single death by having a guy tank and me and the other monk had decided to sub each other when our energy went too low (and also involved her having to very quickly translate - Not Firestorm! He'll come for us!) After the mission we ended up all meeting at someones guild hall and all discussing what new stuff GWEN would bring (Babel fish btw is a god)

I've giving both these stories to just show there is idiots in every class - but on the flipside you sometimes find fantastic PUGS

One time a long time ago when Grove farming I remember a Necro having a go at me for not knowing how to play a warrior properly, and being a big noob etc because I didn't run all stances

Seem to remember a monk following along the same lines. On my ignore list anyway. But can get some good groups at times. I don't pug much but had some good groups when doing so.

Ok, not in PvE but during AB one time got invited into this guild group, they kept asking me something in german, but I didn't understand, they translated, after that was all good. They kept me in even when going off to dump faction etc. Had a good time, fun people.

Found a good group when doing thirsty on my warrior a long time ago. Some people can be fun, but some can be cruel.
My first char into the desert was my elementalist, but I hadn't known what I was doing that much, didn't really realise about the whole jungle, and got a run to the desert (at 3k, didn't realise was that much, all my money as didn't see a price). So a friend got me to elona reach (was level 16, ascalon armour, didn't really know about the new stuff etc, so died easily). After a couple of tries the group wouldn't try it with me any more, and he ended up getting sidelined for a while. But got both istan treasures naked with heroes & hench, enjoyed that. But after much encouragement after one of my alliance mates, picked him back up, got him armour again, having good fun with him.

Games a mix of good and bad, the bad you just learn to ignore, but the good you learn to make friends with and have fun with

I am very glad this particular individual was the exception to the rule of mostly great monks I've PUGed with:

I once PUGed Vizunah Sq, and was pleased when a monk was among the 1st to join up. 'She' (female toon) was very... vocal in what she thought the group needed, and insisted that we didn't need another monk, instead we needed three MMs. Fair enough. Once the group was assembled to her liking (she threatened to leave if we took any assassins or rits), she then ordered us all to bring the skills she thought we needed (this was way before you could ping your build in chat).

By this time I was getting uncomfortable, but there weren't many other people around (heroes hadn't been invented yet), so I reluctantly went along.

I can't recall her build exactly, other than it included Peace And Harmony, Heal Area, and Bane Signet... Needless to say the squishies started to drop; with each one she became more apoplectic with rage. We were all noobs, we sucked, she wasn't going to bother healing us, blah blah swearword blah blah.

Then Togo started to get beaten on, and she refused to heal him... he dies, mission over. I escape her barrage of insults, and after afking to calm down for a while, ask some guildies to help instead.

We master it, and out of curiosity I map back to Vizunah... I'd be lying if I said I wasn't mighty satisfied to see her still there, spamming 'LFG MASTERS NO NOOBS'.

I had the pleasure of monking Gate of Pain with the worst monk I had ever been with.

So first off:
Me: Are you prot or heal?
Him: Dude prot sucks lolol.

So I go prot. He proceeds to cuss me out for a few minutes, until the party leader told him to stfu and we went.

First thing I notice: Enchantment arrows going up. So I watch his skills... he's using Mending. Apparently Mending is "godly" for this mission and my noob prot prayers were "inferior". He then proceeds to spam Healing Breeze until he runs out of energy... apparently Blessed Signet wasn't enough to keep up with his 1337 spells. So he then takes his time to critique my build, regaling how "Spirit Bond is garbage except for farming NOOB" and how "Signet of Devotion has a 2 second cast lolol". We eventually got to a Tortureweb Dryder. The tank ran in with Prot Spirit on him... however the monk decided to follow him so he could "heal him". He gets 1 hit spiked... where it is now revealed that he's using 2 superior runes and no vigor.... since apparently "regen is better when your health is lower". We managed to complete the mission due to our decent BHA ranger, but needless to say the monk went straight on the Ignore list.

The best fun is running a 55 (or 85 if you want to use PvP equipment) monk in RA using this build:
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Unyielding Aura[/skill][skill]Blessed Signet[/skill][skill]Blessed Aura[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill]
Needless to say some of my teammates weren't impressed, but eventually I managed a glad point off the build... I simply kept rezzing my teammates and the other teams weren't able to finish me (this was before the days where Corrupt Enchantment and Gaze of Contempt were standards in RA). It was quite boring, though amusing at the same time.

This happened today. A friend of mine and I are setting up a Nahpui Quarter HM group, a dervish joins then once we get into the mission he says he's a 130hp Dervish and weill take all the agro and we'll be fine. So after the first group Mr. Dervish is out of energy and proceed to spam this in team chat, we say that there is no time to waste for all the regen because we're on a timer for masters. But we keep going and we're doing ok, this guy has died a few times but it's nothing we can't deal with. Then we come to the turtles, Gaze of Contempt is owning this guy, stripping his Prot Spirit. Then something happened that never fails to piss me off, everyone in the team apart from him has had a gold dropped, i'd got 2 and he keeps saying "Why haven't I had a gold, I want one. This isn't fair." With worse spelling and grammer than that of course . Nevertheless we dragged this guy through the mission and get masters. Oh yeah halfway through his dp got too high and he couldn't be ressed, good times...

Sounds like they might have been playing while under the influence. Still though, you have to admit...they weren't that rude. Let's hear it for Flare!
